Minigolf saw a huge rise in popularity in Quebec in the early 90's, making the classic 'mini putt' course a common sight all over the province. Gabias spent many summer evenings playing her hometown's course, chasing the ever-elusive birdie, and eating 'twist' soft-serve ice cream. Seeking to re-create the atmosphere of those summer evenings, Gabias invited artists Vanessa Brown, Steve Hubert and Allie Tweedie to produce THE OASIS, a one-of-a-kind minigolf experience. The artists use a variety of industrial and found materials, from cardboard to concrete, to build a 3-hole minigolf course inside FIELD Contemporary. Participants are invited to view the exhibit while playing the course.
